How do i hang my artwork at The Cup?
|
Contact Carolyn @ The Cup Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday nights after 8 PM.
She will audition your work. (516) 826-9533. Generally, five to ten
pieces are displayed, depending on their size - oil, watercolor, drawings,
charcoal, photos - anything two dimensional is encouraged. Artists can
sell their work from The Cup if so desired. We take the greatest care in
handling the artwork during display - and acting as a liaison for the
buyer and the seller. The Cup, however, bears no responsibility for the
artwork or its sale.
From Annie Dillard's Essay "Seeing."
"...But the artificial is hard to see. My eyes account for less than one
percent of the weight of my head; I'm bony and dense; I see what I expect.
I once spent a full three minutes looking at a bullfrog that was so
unexpectedly large I couldn't see it even though a dozen enthusiastic
campers were shouting directions. Finally I asked, 'What color am I
looking for?' and a fellow said, 'Green.' When at last I picked out the
frog, I saw what painters are up against: the thing wasn't green at all,
but the color of wet hickory bark."
